The most festive Frosted Mistletoe Margarita. Tis’ the season. Mixed simply with fresh winter citrus, cranberry juice, orange liquor, and a good splash of tequila. Then blend with ice and top off with fresh rosemary and sweet sugared cranberries. This frosty drink is so easy to create. Simply mix everything together in a blender for a festive holiday cocktail that’s perfectly icy, sweet, and so delicious! A sweet and salty rim keeps everyone coming back for a second round. Tip? Make the punch version to serve to family and friends! Everyone loves a frosty margarita.
Welcome to the very last Christmas Cocktail Saturday of the holiday season! This year’s drinks have been some of my favorites, but I think I saved the most special for last…the Mistletoe Margarita!
I’ve been wanting to make this margarita for a while, but I hesitated because I wasn’t sure we’d want a frozen margarita on a cold December night. BUT, I’ve changed my mind. I’ve decided an icy drink by the fire is actually the best. So, here we are! My favorite cocktail yet! I’ve never done anything like this frosty margarita, so I’m excited…and let’s be honest, everyone loves a darn good tequila cocktail.
And this one? It’s all done up for the holidays…and just in time for Christmas Eve too!
Here are the quick and simple details.
This is such a simple drink. First, gather your ingredients. Good tequila, cranberry juice, Cointreau (orange liquor), fresh lime juice, cranberries, honey, and a bit of orange zest. You’ll also need some sugar and salt for the rim.
Now, mix that sugar and salt, and rim each glass with the salty-sweet mix. Trust me, this is the extra-special holiday touch your drink needs.
Find yourself a cocktail blender. Grab lots of ice and add everything in, then blend, blend, blend.
Pour into your pretty salty sugar-rimmed glass. And drink up! SIMPLE, super festive, and, so very GOOD.
A little holiday tip…
During the holiday season always keep the essentials for a few good cocktails on hand. I like to keep bourbon, vodka, and tequila stocked this time of year. These are my family’s alcohols of choice.
Then I always have cranberry juice, pomegranate juice, limes, and ginger beer in the fridge. These are my go-to mixers. You never know when you’ll need to mix up a quick drink…it’s always a good idea to be prepared!
To make this frosty margarita sparkle.
For a sweet and festive touch, I love finishing with sugared cranberries. Completely optional, but they add a nice “sparkle” to each drink. I make mine using maple syrup instead of just sugar. The maple syrup provides a delicious flavor and makes these festive cranberries super easy to make.
The best part about this drink? It takes only minutes to make but always turns out looking so impressive and extra pretty with its dark red color. I’m planning to make the pitcher next week for Christmas break. My family is already looking forward to this one…they’ve been sent photos are and very, very excited. This frosted margarita is a mix up of all of their favorites.
And with that, let’s kick off the holiday week in the best way possible, with a cocktail in hand. The only way to do it up!

The printing function isn’t working for the Frosted Mistletoe Margarita. When I try to print the margarita recipe, the punch recipe comes up. I’ve tried it multiple times.
Hey Heidi! I’m so sorry about that, let me look into this! xT
I don’t see above where it lists the steps for making as a punch instead of frozen? Please share, we’re hoping to make this for our party this weekend! Thanks!
Hi Casey,
There are 2 ingredient cards listed above, 1 for the punch and 1 for a single serving. I would scroll just a little bit slower so you don’t miss it. Please let me know if you are still having trouble! xx
This cocktail was a huge hit at Thanksgiving! Tangy and sweet, a very refreshing drink. Due to availability, I substituted Cointreau’s with Triple Sec and result was just as delicious. I’ll be making these again soon 🙂 thank you for sharing!
Thanks so much, Zainab! I am so glad to hear this recipe was enjoyed and appreciate you making it! Have the best weekend! XxT
Happy Holidays. The punch recipe above has the same directions as the frozen. Can you please send the steps for the punch option? Thank you!
Hi Kristi,
They are meant to be the same instructions, the punch will just give you more servings:) I hope this helps! xx
I want to make the punch as it’s for a group if 20 and the blending will be too much. Can you share how to make it as a punch
Loved this so much, I make it every year! I even had it for my bachelorette party last year. Thank you for this!
Love to hear this Lettie!! Thanks for making this recipe so often! Have a great weekend! xT
How far in advance can I make the sugared cranberries and how do I store them?
Hi Sara,
You could make them a day in advance and store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. Please let me know if you have any other questions! Cheers! xx
Could this be made as a large punch ?
Hi Angela,
You bet, the punch recipe is also listed above:) Please let me know if you have any other questions! xx
I don’t see the punch option. Would you just mix everything together and not blend it? Thank you!! Looking forward to making this for Christmas!
Wondering the same!
Where is the mocktail version of this cocktail? Looks delicious!
Hi Rachel,
You can skip the tequila and cointreau and use orange juice and ginger ale in place of the alcohol. I hope you love this recipe! Cheers! xx
Can you use frozen cranberries for sugaring?
Hey Shelly,
Sure, that would be just fine for you to use! Please let me know if you have any other questions, I hope you love this recipe! xx
I am planning to make the mistletoe margarita tonight and am wondering if there are any modifications I should make for serving in a punch bowl versus a glass. I don’t want thedrink to get watered down by melting crushed ice, for example.
Hey Pamela,
I would plan to serve this right away from the blender, I wouldn’t serve this in a punch bowl. Please let me know if you have any other questions! Cheers! xT
These were fantastic!! Made a pitcher and shook in a cocktail shaker and served on the rocks instead of blended. Such a hit! Garnished with the sugared cranberries and sugared rosemary. Everyone loved them and the sugar/salt rim was the perfect touch. Thanks!
Hey Julie,
Awesome!! I love to hear that this recipe turned out well for you and appreciate you giving it a try! xT
I love this! However I might a little less salt next time!
SO Yummy! 1/4 recipe was perfect for 2 people. I also used lime and turbinado sugar for the rim. Definitely a hit and will now be part of our holiday recipe list for sure!
